Review
From my first impression of Becky Wade being Stay with me (A very easy 10/10), I was bound to go in search of more of her books, she has plenty so yay me!

I got into ‘My stubborn heart’ shortly after completing the first one, and I am sad to say that this is a bit disappointing considering I was left in awe of Becky’s style of storytelling. I would like to owe that to the fact that; this was her first book, from my very limited research. I know everything has a beginning and its not always the best hence my review of it.

But I still think this was top tier writing; very briefly though, this book follows Kate, a single thirty something with only but a few failed relationships, a faithful believer and a social worker who after experiencing the loss of one of the children she works with to suicide, decides to take a three month leave off work accepts her grandmother’s offer to move briefly to their hometown to renovate her grandmother’s chapel. She meets this guy who as agreed would be working at the renovations in the house. He just so happens to be attractive and just what long time single Kate needs. She has prayed for a husband from when she was 8 after all!Maybe this was him?

Matt is a widower, an ex hockey player who lost his wife to cancer, is bitter and angry towards God for the painful loss, the last thing on his mind a relationship, much less with Kate. Will she help him find his love for hockey again?! See how their interactions change along the story.

I loved the buildup for sure, it was the kind of tension readers want in two main characters and I love the story overall. The low rating is because the script was inexperienced, could have been wittier and more engaging but it was average sadly.

However, the plot though not very well imagined, was good; the story of restoration and a God so meticulous that He plans out your restoration journey through very unexpected people! The story of a God who loves so dearly that even when you give up on ever experiencing goodness and joy again has all along being crafting a perfect story just for you! I love that part! I am a fan of that.
And the story of God who though so sovereign and mighty, heeds to the prayers of a lowly girl and blesses her with far more than she could imagine.

This story is two hundred something pages, if it was longer, the major topics in the book might have been well catered to and maybe I’d have found this more interesting, but all in all a good book.
