Book Review; Show Your Work by Austin Kleon

So, I just got done reading this book by Austin Kleon, ‘Show Your Work’    This book is packed with practical wisdom for anyone navigating their career or trying to get into something new in an ever changing world.

I pulled out 4 quotes that I found impactful for those striving for success.

“Sometimes in the process of doing things in an unprofessional way, they make new discoveries” this is for those that are starting out, weighed down by rigid rules and formal structures. Sometimes, breaking monotony makes room for so many ideas.

“Overnight success is a myth.” speaks enough for itself.

“On the spectrum of creative work, the difference between mediocre and the good is vast, mediocrity, however, is still on the spectrum. You can move from mediocre to good in increments.” We crave to be experts in our professional fields, but success becomes! After failing and trying a million times.

“The world is changing at such a rapid rate it’s turning us all into amateurs. No one has it all figured out, learning never stops and especially now that we have to learn new things all over again.

Show Your Work is an extraordinary reminder that success is not about perfection. It’s about learning, practicing your craft and showing it off. If you’re looking for motivation to put your work out there, this book is a great place to start.
